A few clouds will roll in tonight, with another round of cool and calm conditions heading into the official start of the holiday weekend.
Your Memorial Day weekend will start out on a dry note, with high pressure to our north holding strong and giving us partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the 70s tomorrow. Cloud cover will become more prevalent heading into Saturday evening as a coastal low to our south starts to make some headway to the north. This system will have a tough time overcoming all the dry air across the area, but trends have leaned towards some spotty, light rain showers rolling across the DMV on Sunday. Most of the day will remain dry, however, with mostly cloudy skies and high temperatures only reaching the lower 70s.
Memorial Day isn’t looking as ideal now, with the center of this coastal storm close enough to the area to produce cloudy skies and isolated showers. In recent years, Memorial Day has always been a magnet for rain chances, and it looks like this year won’t be much different. Once again, though, these showers will be light, and there will be plenty of dry breaks in between. These showers and the storm system finally get nudged out of here on Tuesday, with high pressure and a southerly flow taking hold of the weather pattern through the end of next week. We’ll flip back to sunny skies with temperatures warming into the lower 80s by Wednesday before a massive jump into the upper 80s with plenty of humidity for the first day of June. Gear up, folks; summer will quickly appear as we flip the calendar over.
Have a fantastic afternoon, and enjoy the holiday weekend!
