The 29th edition of the annual benefit gala, which supports The Foundation for AIDS Research, gathered a flock of glamorous attendees to the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in anticipation of the night’s big event—a runway spectacle featuring a lineup of the world’s top models. Curated by Carine, “The Icons Collection” offered a unique homage to legendary fashion moments that have transcended time. The collection also looked to the icons behind the clothing with a tribute to the work of Tom Ford and Jeremy Scott as well as the late Vivienne Westwood.
Carine’s vision of sartorial icons was illustrated by 18 looks, some of which were originals and others reimagined designs. Descending from a spiral staircase at the center of the runway, supermodel Natasha Poly opened the show in a rendition of Elizabeth Hurley’s famous Versace gown worn to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994. Grace Jones’ Giorgio Armani look from the cover of her 1981 album Nightclubbing was seen on Cara Taylor while Alek Wek took on Saint Laurent’s iconic Le Smoking in a series of androgynous suiting moments. A series of iconic supermodels punctuated the collection, Like Jessica Stam, who stunned in a pale pink minidress from Prada’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Elsewhere, Alessandra Ambrosio lit up the room in a dazzling look from Beyoncé’s Renaissance Couture capsule with Balmain.
In a special tribute to Vivienne Westwood, the designer’s granddaughter Cora Corré walked the runway in a re-edition of a corseted gown from Vivienne Westwood Gold Label Spring/Summer 2019. The runway culminated in a finale walk from legendary supermodel Helena Christensen, who wore a Dior Haute Couture dress that was originally worn by Rihanna to the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
